From OSFAS nominee to global style icon — my journey through fashion and why African aesthetics are reshaping the world's runways.

When I was nominated for the OSFAS Fashion & Style Icon Award, I did not just feel proud — I felt vindicated. For years, African fashion was treated as "exotic" or "ethnic" by the mainstream industry. Something to be borrowed from, but never credited.

That is changing. And I am proud to be part of the generation driving that change.

African fashion is not a trend. It is a centuries-old tradition of craftsmanship, storytelling, and identity. Every kente pattern tells a story. Every ankara print carries meaning. When I wear these pieces on red carpets and at international events, I am not just making a style statement — I am making a cultural declaration.

To every designer, stylist, and fashion lover of African heritage: your aesthetic is world-class. Do not shrink it to fit someone else's idea of what fashion should look like.
