How I learned to wear my Ghanaian heritage as a crown — not a compromise — while building a brand that resonates across continents.
Growing up between Ghana and the United Kingdom, I often felt the tension of two worlds pulling at me. In Ghana, I was the girl who spoke too much English. In London, I was the girl who wore too much colour. But somewhere between those two truths, I found my purpose.
African culture is not a limitation — it is a superpower. The warmth, the storytelling, the communal spirit, the vibrant aesthetics — these are things the world is hungry for. And I made it my mission to bring them to the global stage without apology.
Through EA TV, my films, and my philanthropic work, I have seen firsthand how authentic African narratives move people. "Once Upon a Family" was not just a film — it was a love letter to African family values, and the world received it with open arms on Amazon Prime and Tubi.
My advice to every young African woman navigating dual identities: your culture is your competitive advantage. Wear it boldly.
